Ardavan Saadat, M.D.

Sports Medicine & Joint Replacement

Ardavan Saadat, MD, is a fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon subspecializing in sports medicine for minimally invasive arthroscopic hip, knee, and shoulder procedures with the goal of joint preservation.

Dr. Saadat earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), before pursuing his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. He then completed an Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago in Chicago, Illinois, before returning to Southern California for a Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery fellowship at UCLA.

During his fellowship, Dr. Saadat had the distinct advantage of learning from the best in the field. Under the direction of world-renowned Dr. David McAllister (Head team physician for UCLA athletes, former Lakers head team physician), Dr. Kristofer Jones (current Laker’s team physician), and Dr. Sharon Hame, Dr. Saadat perfected basic sports medicine procedures. His experience as an assistant physician to the Lakers and UCLA  Athletics provided Dr. Saadat a backdrop of unique capabilities, such as ACL reconstruction, patellofemoral ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration, and safe access to the hip joint during hip arthroscopy for labral repair and CAM deformities.

Dr. Saadat has extensive training in primary hips, knees, and shoulder reconstruction. He is passionate about serving patients from all spectrums. If a patient is at the early stage of arthritis, conservative management with physical therapy and injections can benefit. With early arthritis, the patient may benefit from an arthroscopic procedure depending on the finding: loose body vs. flapped meniscus. On the other end of the spectrum are patients with debilitating bone-on-bone arthritis who can barely get around their house and into those whose conservative management has failed to benefit from Total hip, knee, and shoulder replacement.

During his residency and fellowship, Dr. Saadat authored and co-authored several publications that serve as landmark articles in safely practicing hip arthroscopy. He co-authored multiple book chapters as well. Dr. Saadat was the assistant head team physician for the Los Angeles Lakers and UCLA Athletics (Football, Basketball, Tennis, Cross Country, Rowing, Baseball, Track & Field). He also served as an assistant head team physician for Chicago Sky and WNBA University of Illinois at Chicago Flames.

In his free time, Dr. Saadat enjoys exploring his new home Murrieta/Temecula area. His main hobby is playing tennis and staying up-to-date with technology, particularly those that affect orthopaedic surgery and patient outcomes.

“Dr Saadat did my knee surgery for a torn Meniscus. Everything went well during surgery. Dr Saadat was very nice, patient, and was wonderful and explaining the process. His office staff member Diane was beyond helpful. She talked with me throughout the entire process with kind attentiveness and was incredibly responsive. Having something you can speak with with ease that connects all the dots of the process was extraordinary”
