Jonathan Acosta, MD

Jonathan Acosta, MD is a fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon specializing in the treatment of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine conditions. Originally from New Castle, Pennsylvania, Dr. Acosta earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), followed by his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed his spine surgery fellowship at Twin Cities Spine Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he received extensive training in complex spinal reconstruction, adult and adolescent spinal deformity, and advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Dr. Acosta’s clinical expertise includes endoscopic spine surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, cervical disc replacement, spinal decompression and fusion, and complex spinal deformity correction. He treats a wide range of spinal conditions, including disc herniations, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis, scoliosis, and cervical myelopathy. His professional interests also include spinal biomechanics, surgical innovation, and the advancement of motion-preserving and minimally invasive techniques. He remains actively involved in clinical research and surgical education.

Dr. Acosta believes in providing individualized, evidence-based care, with an emphasis on patient education and shared decision-making. He prioritizes nonsurgical treatment whenever appropriate and, when surgery is necessary, works closely with each patient to select the most effective approach while minimizing unnecessary intervention. His goal is to help patients regain function, improve their quality of life, and return to the activities they enjoy.
